NOBLE ALABAMA BIRMINGHAM CHAPTER SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS

1. Dr. Richard Arrington Jr. Scholarship – $1000.00

2. Congresswoman Terri Sewell Scholarship – $1000.00

3. Reverend Dr. Jonathan McPherson Scholarship – $1000.00

4. Johnnie Johnson and Annetta Nunn Scholarship – $1000.00

5. Leroy Stover Scholarship – $1000.00

6. Robert “Bob” Harrison and Dr. Richard Showers Sr. – $1000.00

Each scholarship is a one-time award offered to a graduating high school senior who is committed to a career in law enforcement or criminal justice. The person selected for this award will be committed to becoming a sworn law enforcement officer, special agent or work in a related position or field.

The application must be submitted and postmarked no later than: 4/17/2026
The scholarship winners will be notified before: 5/1/2026

NOBLE Alabama Birmingham Chapter Scholarship Award Guidelines
The scholarships are named after trailblazers within the state of Alabama: Dr. Richard Arrington Jr. – Scholarship for Excellence in Leadership; Congresswoman Terri Sewell – Scholarship for Excellence in Public Service; Reverend Dr. Jonathan McPherson – Scholarship for Excellence in Community Involvement; the Alabama Minority Chief’s Scholarship – Chiefs Johnnie Johnson and Annetta Nunn and Deputy Chief Leroy Stover – Scholarship for Arts and Sciences; Robert “Bob” Harrison and Dr. Richard Showers Sr. – Scholarship for Excellence in Social Justice and Civic Leadership
 

ELIGIBILITY: 

  • Must be a current high school senior who will receive a diploma prior to the award announcement
  • Must be interested in pursuing a degree in any of the Social Sciences, including technology, forensic investigation and other criminal investigative studies and be committed to a career in law enforcement or work in a related position or field
  • Congresswoman Terri Sewell Scholarship will be awarded to a deserving female
  • Must be accepted to an accredited academic institution (proof of acceptance will be required)
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must be a resident of Alabama or Tennessee for at least 12 months 
  • Must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher 
  • Must be a current high school senior who will receive a diploma prior to the award announcement.
  • Must complete and submit the following by 4/17/2026
 
1. An Application Form 
2. Original School Transcript 
3. Two Letters of Recommendation 
4. A type-written one-page essay authored by the applicant stating career goals and interests and reasons why you should receive this law enforcement award. Note: Please use Times New Roman, 12 front and single space.
