In Memoriam: Retired Deputy Chief Leroy Stover, Birmingham, Alabama’s First Black Police Officer

Birmingham, Alabama, November 7, 2023  — It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of retired Deputy Chief Leroy Stover, a trailblazing figure in Birmingham’s law enforcement history. Deputy Chief Stover, who broke barriers as Birmingham’s first black police officer, has left an indelible mark on the community.

In recognition of his dedicated service and outstanding contributions, Memorial, Funeral, and Interment Services have been scheduled to honor Deputy Chief Stover’s legacy. We invite the community to join us in paying our respects.
